Meet SLATR

Four residents of New Orleans, all from scattered backgrounds, get together to tell the stories of life in New Orleans through music.

Sandra Love & The Reason was formed in 2017 by Sandra Love, after touring for a year with another project, she was ready to make music of her own. Her powerful voice sings about the joys and heartaches of living in New Orleans. The band is comprised of Felipe Antonio on guitar, Max Valentino on Bass, Bob Danos on Drums and Sandra Love on Vocals.

Music is the Reason the band gets out of bed every day; it keeps them tuned to the key of life.

dreamwalker Out Now

SLATR’s newest album, DREAMWALKER is finally here…

According to Shamanistic beliefs, a Dreamwalker works through dreams to travel to other worlds. Some Dreamwalkers can enter other people’s dreams. Lucid travel is the most common form of travel, but some are capable of traveling while awake. While in these worlds they gather useful knowledge to bring back to this realm; thus assisting their tribe, themselves, and the rest of the collective consciousness.

Welmon Sharlhorne, also known as Uncle Shadow, is a self-taught artist, who spent half his life in Angola prison, and developed his ability while imprisoned. You can find his works in the Smithsonian to this day. Sandra Love asked Welmon to create her album cover, after describing what a dreamwalker is and showing him the first album MANIFEST YOUR DREAMS.

DREAMWALKER is a representation of Sandra Love’s experiences in New Orleans. Her soul was temporarily taken and locked into outer space in a cage. She had to fight through a web of dreams to get back to her earthly body. Ms. Love may have shed some tears on the way, but the horns upon her head tell of a warrior who will not bend. Soulful, deep, enchanting, and inspiring are words to describe the journey this album will take you on. Join her on her journey of self-exploration; where love is the reason for everything.

“Manifest Your Dreams” Out Now

SLATR’s first album, “Manifest Your Dreams” is available for streaming on Spotify, and to purchase here.

The band is still accepting donations to fund the costs of their second album, “Dream Walker”, which will be pressed to vinyl right here in New Orleans.

Check out their NPR Tiny Desk submission, where SLATR performs “Rue The Day”.

Stay tuned for the release of SLATR’s first music video, “The Water” on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

“The Water”

Inspired by the Louisiana Voodoo legend of Julie Brown and Sandra Love’s discovery and personal connection to the African Orishas, and the book Sassyfras, Cypress, & Indigo, SLATR’s “The Water” will move you.

“RUE the day”

Our submission to the 2021 NPR Tiny Desk Contest. “Rue The Day” is all about sadness and regret, and this song is featured on our second album, “Dream Walker” which will debut in September of 2021.

Make a donation.

Help us cover the cost of our second album. Recording, mixing, and mastering, plus having it pressed on vinyl locally in the New Orleans area is such a costly project, especially in the times of the pandemic where we have not been able to book consistent shows. Even a small donation would mean the world to us, especially if you are unable to support us at an upcoming show. Thanks so much.

Sandra Love & The Reason are open and available for live show bookings in the New Orleans regional area, and available for tour. If you’d like more information on how to book SLATR for your venue, please contact us at sandralovereason@gmail.com.
